Watch this exclusive video to view his stunning stainless steel sculpture, titled ‘And On Monday, God Made The World’. This figurative artwork complements the suite of six giclée prints, all of which are hand-signed and available individually or as a set.
The sixth instalment of the series follows the sell-out success of his March 2020 launch, which was featured by the Telegraph, Evening Standard and Sky News. Billy Connolly has released a brand new collection with Castle Fine Art.
Since 2012, Billy’s humorous drawings have delighted fans around the world. Taken from his Born On A Rainy Day series, his new limited edition works are hand-signed and showcase his signature Escher-esque surrealism and an increased use of colour. Also included in the collection is Billy’s first-ever sculpture: a stainless steel figure who is welding the Earth, in a nod to his past as an apprentice welder in Glaswegian shipyards in the 1960s.
The collection was unveiled at two private events at Castle Fine Art’s galleries in Glasgow and South Molton Street, where Billy met fans and discussed his new work.
Speaking on the collection, Billy says: “I just want to keep honing the thing that I’ve got and make it better and better – that’s all. That’s the only ambition I feel, I just want to be very good at what I do…keep the standard very high, stay dangerous.”
